RPGFan Music of the Year 2022 ~ Editors’ Favorites: Audra Bowling

Music of the Year 2022 Featured

2022 saw some phenomenal RPG soundtracks and album releases. It was hard to narrow down the OSTs I wanted to talk about here, but I decided to try! After all, we’re all here to share great musical vibes, yes? So, here are some of my favorite RPG soundtracks that you might’ve missed this past year.

Batora: Lost Haven Original Soundtrack

Available on Steam, the Batora: Lost Haven Original Soundtrack contains forty minutes of music composed by Ron Fish. It features incredibly poignant and emotive pieces from Avril’s journey, with haunting vocals and instrumentation reflecting the alien worlds and cultures our hero comes across. This soundtrack is a powerful treat to listen to!

Numina (Original Video Game Soundtrack)

Available on Steam, iTunes, and YouTube, composer Thomas J. Peters’ work on indie RPG Numina‘s soundtrack is quite impressive. The tracks are emotionally moving, notably the standout character and battle themes. The soundtrack beautifully conveys all of the feelings present in Numina‘s impactful plot.

Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden Original Soundtrack

Under the musical direction of Keiichi Okabe, composers Shotaro Seo and Oliver Good created a small but incredibly moving soundtrack for Square Enix’s RPG Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden. The tracks are lovely to listen to both when playing the game and when not, conveying various emotions throughout.
