Sakura Taisen 2 follows the events of its predecessor just a year later, when a new enemy threatens the imperial capitol and the Flower Division must once again rush to its defense. Its gameplay is split primarily between that of a tactical RPG for combat, and a dating sim interface for regular interactions. As Ohgami Itto, a member of the Imperial Combat Revue’s Flower Division, you have to win the hearts of your teammates and defeat the threat to Tokyo.
Building on the original, Sakura Taisen 2 introduces new characters Rene and Orihime as part of the Flower Division, giving the player eight options for relationships. The LIPS system for making choices has been upgraded, with multiple character interactions now possible within the same conversation and more options when conversing. Animated sequences are by Production I.G. and the game features even more voice acting than its predecessor.
