Lux-Sound is a promotional soundtrack for the Japanese version of Lux-Pain. It features a bunch of “pre-arranged” tracks (hence “ver.0”) and a lengthy drama track starring the game’s Japanese voice actors. The first four tracks are arrangements of Kenji Ito’s pieces and the second four are arrangements of Yasuyuki Suzuki’s pieces. The arrangements of the pieces feature enhanced synthesizers but do not fundamentally alter the structure of the original songs. There is a difference in flavor between Kenji Ito’s and Yasuyuki Suzuki’s pieces, but the flavors complement each other quite well and make for a cohesive soundtrack.
Lux-Sound is a nice promotional goodie, but I actually preferred the songs as heard on the original soundtrack than this arranged one. These arranged tracks did not do enough to really distinguish them from their original counterparts, though the Suzuki tracks fare better than the Ito tracks in arranged form. The main draw of this soundtrack is easily the 30 minute drama track by the Japanese voice actors. However, Lux-Pain fans who cannot understand Japanese and/or are not interested in drama tracks may want to pass.
