I loved the Memories Off 6- T-Wave soundtrack. I thought it was one of Abo’s better soundtracks and possibly the best in the Memories Off series. Therefore, I was more than happy to listen to the Memories Off 6- Next Relation soundtrack. Unfortunately, the Next Relation soundtrack was nowhere near as powerful is the T-Wave soundtrack and I was not exactly thrilled by it.
The soundtrack contains three vocal themes: Next Relation, Together for a Long Time, now for Even Longer, and the bonus track Triangle Wave- Ririsu Version. Next Relation was a decent, if unremarkable, song. Together for a Long Time, now for Even Longer was insanely catchy. The bonus track was a new version of the T-Wave main theme, whose remix added nothing noteworthy to a theme that was already good and did not need a techno remix merely for the sake of a remix. At least all the vocal performances were good.
The in-game music in this soundtrack was noticeably more upbeat and uptempo than the music in T-Wave and felt like a half-hearted effort. The Next Relation versions of the character themes were lackluster. The simple piano “monologue” versions of some of the character themes were pretty, but all sounded the same, hearing them one after another. The epilogue theme’s medley of classic Memories Off themes was a total rehash, and not a very smooth one. Basically, the music felt like a token gesture, half-hearted, phoned-in effort by Abo. Compared with the powerful T-Wave soundtrack, Next Relation was a letdown. My final recommendation would be to check out the T-Wave soundtrack and skip Next Relation. And, between the two (though both are somewhat hard to find), you’re more likely to find a copy of the T-wave soundtrack than the Next Relation soundtrack.
