YO MI – The Dream Will Not Die ~The Spilling Drops of Time~: Tales of Phantasia Opening Theme

Review by · February 7, 2006

Tales of Phantasia was one of the best SFC RPGs. Most memorable of course was the music – the game even had its own sound-menu. At the same time as the Playstation remake Victor Entertainment released 3 CDs: The original soundtrack and 2 CD singles.

This CD-single features the intro music from the Playstation version and is sung by YO MI – who sings very good, too! Compared to the Yukari Yoshida recording, this take on “The Dream Will Not Die” is a slower, more mellow version, with stronger emphasis on acoustic instruments as well as brass and electric guitars; overall it sounds a little less synthesized, and there is no solo-part. I like both versions though, so if you buy both the Yukari Yoshida single and this one that’s certainly not a wrong decision.

“Premonition…” is a nice pop-ballad, too, I have no idea however if it is directly from the game or not…There are also two Karaoke tracks, so if you can read the japanese lyrics, you can sing along.

Don’t ask me why YO MI is holding a frisbee. At the time of writing this review, the CD is still available from CD Japan.
