The first entry in the Tales of series, Tales of Phantasia was a seminal release late in the Super Famicom’s life. It established the series’ anime-aesthetic with Kosuke Fujishima’s gorgeous artwork, and set the standard for action RPGs going forward. It’s received four ports, with only two making it out of Japan.
