Persona 4 Revival Spotlights Mysteries Galore in New Story Trailer

SEGA and developer Atlus have released a new story trailer for Persona 4 Revival, their upcoming full-scale RPG remake set to release on February 18th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and PC via Steam. The trailer debuted as part of the Xbox @ Gamescom presentation, spotlighting the occult mysteries that run rampant in the rural town of Inaba. Check it out below!

The footage above focuses on the Midnight Channel, an occult mystery that shadows the entire story of Persona 4 Revival. As an unnamed transfer student, players will work with a group of their classmates to explore the Midnight Channel, the malevolent powers that haunt it, and those who work to use it to nefarious ends.

A ten-minute broadcast also aired directly after the trailer, led by game producer Kazuhisa Wada. He breaks down the trailer and details some of what Persona 4 Revival entails and what makes the Persona series special. Check it out below!

Persona 4 Revival Story Breakdown ft. Kazuhisa Wada

Wada emphasises that Persona 4 Revival is, even for newcomers, a title that “…is one of the works that most symbolically lets you experience the Persona series.” He contrasts the daily life of a high schooler against exploring the unnerving mystery that plagues the town, creating a dichotomy that heightens the tension and connection of each half.

The core of Persona 4 Revival is also named, with Wada stating it to be the “…connections between people and the discovery of truths about yourself…” and “…the human drama that is woven between those bonds.” Wada also highlights the full scale of the remake, confirming its extensive improvements to “…protect its appeal while bringing it back to life with the expressive power and playability of the modern Persona series.”

As someone who hasn’t played Persona 4, it’s heartwarming to see it get the same care and attention as Persona 3 Reload, the previous entry and remake released in 2024. For players new and old, I can only imagine that it will provide a taut, well-polished experience come early next year.

Persona 4 Revival will launch February 18th, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and PC via Steam. It will also be available for Game Pass.
